Missing my Pal
I have never been away from Pal for more than a few hours. I am actually holding it together much better than I thought I would, but I miss the little donkey like crazy. He's such an awesome little Pal.

We finally learned about straws!
Today, Pal finally got the hang of using a straw! It took a few tries, but juice boxes are now amoung his favorite things.
Gramma and grampa are coming up from Albuquerque today to take Pal for the weekend so that Matt and I can go on our yearly "relax" vacation to Key West. We have gone every year since we met, with the exception of last year because Pal was just born. We continue to go every year because despite it changing from year to year, most of our favorite places only get better and better. This year we are going with our good friends Arch and Nicole Ollennu, whom have never been before. We plan to show them all of the best spots and take the opportunity to cross off a few of the things we haven't gotten to do yet.... like the Better Than Sex dessert restaurant!

Trees with Dad
This kid is obsessed with trees. And ceiling fans. We all had a great time visiting with Spencer while he was here.

Pal and I went to the Children's Museum of Denver today. He had a great time and even found himself a button machine!

Luke's first birthday
Happy birthday, Luke!
My friend Elicia, whom I have known for more than 18 years (wow, I am old) and her little family recently moved to the area. Her son, Luke, is one week younger than Pal and today was his first birthday. We had a great time celebrating at their house today until Pal smashed his face, twice, trying to outsmart the stairs. He has a couple of bruises on his head but his will to climb on stuff is still going strong.

Pal got this awesome plane for his birthday from Alaina and Ryan Case. He LOVES it. I kind of love it too. The buttons makes the prop twirl!

Motherhood
Today is Mother's Day. Last year, we were in the hospital and Rowan was only a day and a half old. How time flies! We celebrated today with a lovely brunch in town where Rowan got to try Indian food for the first time (he LOVED it). Matt got me a lovely handmade bracelet and margarita cupcakes. What a day!

Happy first birthday, little Pal!
Today we are celebrating Rowan's first birthday. It is remarkable how he has grown and changed in such a short year. He is walking like a maniac and babbling like he has a lifetime of stories to tell. He loves animal crackers, his puppies (Tannah and Acadia), button machines (our laptops), his board books, and his binks. We don't have any words yet, but I suspect that is just around the corner.
I can't wait to see where this little life takes you, Pal. I suspect you will do incredible things.

Farewell Student Life
Today was officially my last day as a student at CU (even though I finished up my thesis and coursework back in December). Leaving is bittersweet and I am so thankful for all of the people I met and the lessons I learned during my time here. I know that I am coming away from this experience a better, more well-rounded person. This has been one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences and I am so thankful to Matt and Rowan for their love, support, and understanding through this whole process. I hope to continue to make you proud.
